1. Gas mileage decreases at speeds over 60 mph. Staying within posted speed limits will actually help you by increasing gas mileage.

7. Avoid using roof racks or carriers if you are looking for gas mileage improvements - they create wind resistance that can decrease fuel economy by 5%.
